Notice of Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places for the West Lancashire Constituency and the South Ribble Constituency (part)

In accordance with Section 17 of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, West Lancashire Borough Council gives notice that it is conducting a review of Polling Districts and Polling Places within the West Lancashire Borough Area of the West Lancashire and South Ribble (part) constituencies.

The initial consultation period for this review will commence on Friday 1 March 2024 and will conclude on Thursday 9 May 2024. A further period of consultation on future proposals will take place in the Summer.

The (Acting) Returning Officer's current list of Polling District and Polling Places will be published by 1 February 2019 on the authority's Your Voice West Lancashire Portal, and will also be available for inspection at the Council Offices, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, L39 2DF.

Electors within West Lancashire Borough Council’s area may make representations to the Council about the current arrangements during the initial consultation. Where changes are suggested to current arrangements, then representations should, if possible, give alternative places that may be used as polling places.

Local political parties and Councillors will be consulted and views are invited from electors within the West Lancashire Borough Area. The Authority also welcomes any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability to make representations or to comment on the proposals or any other related matter.

Representations can be made by through the Your Voice West Lancashire Portal. Registration is quick and simple. Alternatively, representations can be sent to Tom Lynan, Electoral & Administration Services Manager, either by email to tom.lynan@westlancs.gov.uk or in writing to the address below. Representations for the initial consultation are to arrive no later than Thursday 9 May 2024.

Following conclusion of the Review, final proposals will be presented to Council for their consideration and the outcome of the Review will then be published on the Council's website. Any changes to Polling Districts and/or Polling Places as part of the Review will come into force in December 2024, subject to the timing of the General Election.
