About the council
The Representation of the People Act 1983 enables local authorities to review some or all of the polling districts and polling places within its area outside of the compulsory timetable for whole borough reviews. In October 2016 the Polling Districts and Polling Places Review Committee decided to review the arrangements for the BEC Polling District within Burscough East Ward and also the WRD Polling District within Wrightington Ward. A decision was also made by the committee to amend the polling place for DEC2 within Derby Ward.
The initial stage of the review commenced on Thursday 3 November 2016 and finished on Thursday 17 November 2016.
Submissions are now invited for the consultation on the initial proposals for polling district BEC and polling district WRD. This consultation runs from Thursday 24 November 2016 and finishes on Thursday 22 December 2016.
The council has published the following documents relating to the review;

The Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 introduced a change to the timing of the compulsory reviews of UK Parliamentary Polling Districts and Polling Places. We used this as an opportunity to carry out a review of the location of Polling Stations at the same time. We began our review on 1 October 2013 and will carry out a further review every fifth year.
The (Acting) Returning Officer's final proposals were presented to Council on 18 December 2013. Council decided that consideration of the Final Review Proposals for polling districts and polling places be deferred until Council on 16 April 2014 and a Task and Finish Working Group be established to examine the Final Review Proposals and report to Council in April 2014.
Interested people had an opportunity to make representations at every stage. Representations that were received are published below.
A final decision on the Review with reasons was made at the Council meeting on 16 April 2014 - full details are contained in the minutes and appendix.
