The Business Rates (NNDR) Office is responsible for collecting
rates from local businesses on behalf of central government.
A contribution is paid into a central pool and money is
re-distributed to billing authorities and major precepting
authorities to help finance the provision of local services.
Billing and collection
We issue rate accounts every March. Accounts are based on the
rateable value shown in the current local rating list, times a rate
multiplier set by central government, subject to a transitional
relief scheme.
The notes below form part of your national non-domestic
rate bill and it is important you read them when you look at
your bill.
The Government are putting new legislation before
Parliament over the summer, to give a temporary increase in Small
Business Rates Relief for all applicants who currently receive an
additional percentage discount as well as use of the smaller rates
multiplier. The increase will double the percentage of extra relief
for the period of one year from October 1 2010, then return to the
current values until March 31 2015. You do not have to make
a fresh application and we will apply the extra relief
automatically to your account if you are already in receipt of the

How to pay
Please look at the Pay a Bill page to find out how and where
you can pay. You can also set up a direct debit to pay your
rates.
Your method of payment is shown on your NNDR bill. If you wish
