Investment Readiness Workshop

The University of Central Lancashire's Investment Readiness programme is a coherent, structured programme of investor-led input, investment readiness guidance and support activities with the objective of supporting Lancashire-based, small-to-medium sized businesses with demonstrably improved chances of raising third party investment.

The programme aims are to:

  • Make it easier for Lancashire businesses to access the most appropriate equity investment funding
  • Make it easier for investors to back the right opportunities and increase the ratio of positive investment decisions to negative ones
  • Grow the base of Lancashire SMEs equipped to engage with equity investors, increasing the knowledge and understanding of risk capital
  • An increased number of opportunities that have undergone an objective assessment of, and been given feedback relating to, the business and its plans, so that they may be shown in their optimum light to potential funders
  • A programme of education for the owners of businesses that require growth funding but have limited or no experience of raising equity finance

The workshop will be taking place on Thursday 7 December, 12.00pm-4.30pm at West Lancashire Investment Centre, Skelmersdale.

Lancashire Forum Creative Extra

Cohort 2 of the Lancashire Forum Creative Extra will start Tuesday 27 February 2018. This in-depth programme is for senior/owner managers of Creative or Digital businesses who want to develop their leadership skills, innovate, and grow their business. The programme features:

  • An induction session to set the scene and introduce you to your peers on the programme
  • Sector-specific, expert-led Think Tanks including: Strategic Thinking and Planning, Lego Serious Play, Exploring Leadership, Innovation
  • Site visit to a large regional business
  • Learning reflection/consolidation sessions to embed learning and establish actions
  • Innovative ‘Hack Jam’ event that uses creative thinking, technology and diverse expertise to work on a pertinent topic defined and agreed by the participants
  • Final reflection/consolidation day and graduation.

OWL Business Focus

OWL (Ormskirk and West Lancashire) Business Focus is a group of business people who live, work or trade in the Ormskirk or West Lancashire area. It is a member-led organisation which enables connections to be made between individual members, their organisations, other business groups and the wider community.

The group meet regularly to provide members with the opportunity to network with other businesses, hear project updates from the group and guest speakers, and to find out more about our training programmes and social events.

The Federation of Small Businesses is a member-led organisation and is the UK’s largest campaigning pressure group representing 200,000 members across the UK, promoting the interests of the self-employed and owners of small firms.

North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce

Membership of the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce is open to any business, irrespective of size. The Chamber of Commerce is an important part of the regional business community due to its strong membership base and the range of services it offers.
