Animal welfare

Animal welfare

Our Animal Welfare Officer regularly inspects all premises that need to comply with an animal welfare licence. This includes pet shops, kennels, catteries, riding establishments, dog breeding premises and zoos.

Premises are licensed annually and must comply with set licence conditions that are applicable to the specific premsies. Other licencable premsies may also require the expert knowledge of a veterinary inspector, who undertakes the inspection with the council officer.

We also investigate complaints from members of the public regarding these activities.
