West Lancashire District Council

Lancashire local

Lancashire Local - West Lancashire
The Lancashire Local Committee is a joint committee made up of an equal number of county councillors and district councillors from West Lancashire - it's been set up to:

  • bring decision making on county functions closer to communities
  • strengthen policy making to reflect local needs
  • develop more joint working between the county council and district council

Councillors from West Lancashire District Council meet with county councillors for the area to discuss a variety of important issues. At the meetings district councillors have an equal voice and the same voting rights as locally elected county councillors.

Public participation
Whilst members of the public can attend meetings of Lancashire Locals and speak about matters on the agenda before decisions are taken, the Local is not primarily about community engagement. At the start of each meeting there will be a 30 minute slot during which members of the public can ask questions and comment on items appearing on the agenda for that meeting.
