FOI: appeals and complaints

Refusals, appeals and complaints
It is important that the website, our publication scheme, meets your needs. We welcome suggestions for additional classes of information that could be included. We also welcome suggestions as to how the publications themselves might be improved. If you have a suggestion please call 01695 585031, email freedomofinformation@westlancsdc.gov.uk, or write to Council Secretary and Solicitor, Freedom of Information, West Lancashire District Council, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, L39 2DF.

Refusal notices
If we decide to withhold all or part of the information that has been asked for, we will send a letter that explains which exemption is being used and the reason why the information is being withheld.

If you are not satisfied with the reason why the information has been withheld, you can appeal. You can also appeal if you think the charges for the information are unfair. Call 01695 585031, email freedomofinformation@westlancsdc.gov.uk, or write to Council Secretary and Solicitor, Freedom of Information, West Lancashire District Council, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, L39 2DF

Complaints
If you are not satisfied with the way that we have handled your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act or Data Protection Act, you should complain to us directly using the council's complaints procedure. We will aim to respond to your request within 10 working days. If you are still unhappy, you can write to the Chief Executive who will investigate and aim to respond within 10 working days.
