Opportunities for artists to get their work noticed!
Find out what the refurbishment of Chapel Gallery means for you as well as all the latest news about exhibition opportunities at February's artists network.

Artists and contemporary craft makers in West Lancashire are invited to the next meeting of the West Lancashire Artists' Network on Wednesday 27th February, between 7.30pm and 9pm at Digmoor Community Centre, Birleywood, Digmoor, Skelmersdale.

It is aimed at creative individuals who want to have their artwork seen by galleries, retail outlets and those looking to commission works or who want to raise their profile. It's also a great way for talented, like-minded people to share their ideas and discuss their own artwork.

This particular event will be used to discuss the current improvement works at the Chapel Gallery and what it will result in when the premises opens its doors again to the public on 19th April. At the moment the work includes an extension to the café, improved access throughout the facility, new toilets and baby changing facilities and bespoke lighting. New features will also include a family activity monthly events programme. All of which will certainly benefit artists across the district and beyond.

The event will also focus on arts development and the upcoming West Lancashire Open Exhibition 2008, which is run by Chapel Gallery and is a fantastic opportunity for artists of all capabilities to exhibit their own works of art.

Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "This event is an excellent opportunity for professional artists and ambitious amateurs to develop personally and find out more about upcoming creative projects, sales events and exhibition opportunities available locally, throughout the region and nationally. It's also nice to meet other like-minded individuals and discuss projects in a friendly, informal environment. I would encourage anyone who is interested in current art developments and wants to raise their profile to come along."

The event is free and light refreshments will be provided. For more details please contact the Gallery on 01695 571328.

To find out what is happening during the refurbishment works, please contact 01695 571328 or visit our Chapel Gallery pages, as services such as the Saturday Art Club, holiday activity programme and arts development service are still continuing at various venues across the district.
