CCTV for Burscough businesses

7th February 2008, 08/28

CCTV for Burscough businesses
CCTV cameras will soon be launched at Burscough Industrial Estate to make the business park even safer 24 hours a day.

West Lancashire District Council has started work to install a new system on the site to enhance security for companies even further.

The project will be completed in the springtime and once finished it will include nine cameras to monitor the movement of people and traffic who come in and out of the area round the clock.

It will also complement other stringent measures on the estate such as the Business Watch radio scheme, which all help to protect staff, buildings and property.

Cllr Ian Grant, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Planning, said: "This is great news for the businesses on the industrial estate because once installed the new CCTV system will not only act as a deterrent to would-be criminals but will reassure companies already on the estate that the cameras are watching anybody acting suspiciously no matter what time of day or night! The extra security measures will also hopefully attract even more companies to the area and boost the local economy too."

Geoff Barker, who owns Barker Transport on the estate and who is also the Chairman of Burscough Business Watch, said: "On behalf of everyone on the Burscough Industrial Estate we are very pleased about the forthcoming CCTV scheme, which will keep crime at bay. I'm sure it will attract more businesses to the area and create more jobs as a result because it will make it a safer environment."

If your business is located on Burscough industrial estate and you are interested in joining the Business Watch radio scheme, please contact John Corish on 01695 585123.
