Be like the March hare and enjoy the outdoors
Wildlife gardening and countryside crafts are among the outdoor activities to be run by the Countryside Rangers at Beacon Country Park this March.

With the days getting longer and spring just around the corner, it is the ideal time to shake off the winter blues and get some fresh air.

Youngsters with a liking for gardening can join the Junior Ranger Club on Saturday 1 March, from 2pm, where they can help plant a wildlife garden. The Junior Rangers Club is for 5-13 year olds and booking is essential.

On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 March from 10.30am everyone is invited to attend the Countryside Crafts Weekend and see a variety of ancient countryside and woodland crafts in practise, including woodcarving and charcoal making.

Celebrate the start of spring and enjoy the scenic views of Beacon Country Park with an Equinox Walk at 4 pm on Friday 21 March This walk is around 5-6 km long and sturdy footwear and suitable clothing will be needed. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs under control are welcome.

On Wednesday 26 March, at 2pm the Junior Ranger Club will meet again for an Easter Treasure Hunt
Youngsters can join in an 'eggcellent' treasure hunt in the grounds of the park. Please remember to book as places will be limited.

All events are free and everyone should meet at the Ranger Station, Beacon Country Park, Beacon Lane, Up Holland, Lancashire WN8 7RU. Tel: 01695 622794. Email: beacon.park@westlancsdc.gov.uk
