Events for half term
With half-term coming up next week, it may be that you are looking for ways in which to keep your youngsters entertained. There are a number of events going on around the district for all the family.

The West Lancashire Sports Development Team has a wide variety of daily activities taking place at venues across the district including fundays, kickabouts, a football tournament with prizes. and even a trip to the Blackpool Sandcastle.

Other events for the week include:
Nest box building
Coronation Park, Sunday 17 February, 2 - 4pm
Get ready for spring and join the park ranger in constructing a variety of nest boxes for house birds local to both Coronation Park and your own garden. This activity is suitable for all ages, although children under eight must be accompanied by an adult.

Booking in advance is essential, to reserve your place or for more information contact Chris Horsfall on 01695 585147.

Junior Rangers Club - Willow Weaving
Beacon Country Park, Wednesday 20 February, 2 - 4pm
Make living sculptures using only wonderful willow.

The Junior Rangers Club is for children aged 5 -13. Places are limited so booking is essential. To book please contact the Ranger Service on 01695 622794 on either Tuesday 19 February or the morning of Wednesday 20 February for this event.

Beacon Canal Loop Walk
Saturday 23 February, 10.30am
Join the Rangers on a nine-mile walk.
Meet at the Ranger Station, Beacon Country Park. Please wear sturdy footwear and clothes to suit the weather conditions and bring a packed lunch.
Take in the breathtaking surroundings of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal on the Beacon Canal Loop Walk.
Walkers will be taken around the hills and dales of the picturesque Douglas Valley, incorporating Beacon Country Park and Ashurst Beacon. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs under control are welcome.
