Go countryside crazy with new events
programme
Outdoor lovers are in for a treat when they take a peek at the new
2008 countryside events programme.
The calendar has been put together by West Lancashire District
Council's Countryside Rangers and is jam-packed with lots of
different free activities going on throughout the year at various
beauty spots across the district.
It offers everything from short strolls, family outings and
hands-on woodland activities to more lengthy walks for those with
stamina to ensure that there's something for everyone.
Favourites listed include the popular Green Fayre in July, which is
the biggest craft and countryside event of the year; the Kite and
Outdoor Sports Festival in June; and the month-long Walking
Festival throughout August, which offers a variety of walks to suit
all ages and abilities.
There's also details about Junior Rangers Club for 5 to 13 year
olds, which meets at 2pm on the first Saturday of every month at
Beacon Country Park. Or to ensure you don't miss another
countryside event it includes how to sign up for the free events text messaging service.
Cllr Rob Bailey, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: "Our Rangers
have put together a fantastic programme of events that really does
cater for everybody, whether you want to try your hand at
conservation tasks or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll. Also, by
taking part in one of the free events it is a great opportunity to
explore the great outdoors and stay fit and healthy."
