Last chance for tickets to popular public debates

Hurry to book your tickets to 2008's 'Council Meeting as an Assembly' as they are getting snapped up quickly

The popular annual event, now in its sixth year, gives local people the opportunity to voice their opinions on issues that affect the area in which they live.

In accordance with the Council's commitment to rotate the venue for the assembly around the district the meeting will be held on Wednesday 30th January at 7.30pm at Banks Leisure Centre, Greaves Hall Avenue, Banks and this year's two topical subjects for debate, are: 'Ormskirk Bypass' and 'Creating a Sustainable Rural Economy', which have been chosen because of their district-wide importance.

Dave Guest, BBC North West's Social Affairs Correspondent, will once again compere the event and encourage participation. Also featured will be the Chairman's special award and exhibition stands.

Cllr Geoff Roberts, Leader of West Lancashire District Council, said: "Already we've had requests for tickets for the popular event and I've a feeling that it's going to be a packed venue because the agenda is one that will interest a wide audience. To make sure you are guaranteed a place I'd hurry for tickets before the last ones go! It's a chance for people to have their say on current issues that affect the local community."

To reserve your free tickets or for more information visit our Council Meeting as an Assembly web pages or call 01695 585016/585017.

The District Council will also be recording the event so that residents can watch it afterwards on our website or order the DVD to watch in the comfort of their own home.
