Council web serves up a
treat
A lucky Skelmersdale man got more than he
bargained for when he ordered free poop scoop bags through this
website – he also won £100 of shopping vouchers!
John Higham won the quarterly prize draw for
people who use an online service.
Ordering poop scoop bags is one of the most
popular online forms on the website and some 130 requests
were placed just last month, but people have the chance to
win by using any of the online services. These range from
paying a bill, giving views on planning applications, arranging a
bulky item collection to even ordering a free cigarette pouch.
John visited the Council Offices to receive
his prize from Councillor David Westley, portfolio holder for IT
and e-government.
Councillor Westley said: “I’m delighted to
present the prize from our first ever website prize draw to Mr
Higham. The aim of the prize draw is to encourage people to visit
our website when they want to get in touch with the Council – it’s
open 24-hours a day, 365 days a year and is quick and convenient to
use. I hope more people will realise that the website is the way
ahead – especially now they know they can win £100.”
Mr Higham said: “I went online to order poop
scoop bags and found out I’d won a prize when I came back from
holiday. It’s only the second time I had used the website but I’ll
do it all the time from now on – it’s free and it’s convenient.
“I’m not a computer expert and if I can use
the website then anyone can. It’s really easy to use.”
Entry to the prize draw is free of charge and
is open to people who use an online service. For example if
you fill in an online form to request a service or make a payment
or to give your views you can choose to enter the prize draw. The
draw is drawn every quarter and the next will take place at the end
of September. The prizes are provided by one of the Council’s
technology suppliers and are not funded from the Council Tax.
