Go Green this summer
Make a date in your diaries for the 19 and 20 July 2008 between
11am and 5pm as the district’s premier countryside event is back!
The Green Fayre at Beacon Country Park, Up Holland is the biggest
event with free entry in the Rangers’ calendar and they want you to
be there.
In previous years this event has attracted up to 10,000 visitors
and this year is likely to be no exception. There will be a whole
host of displays, demonstrations and activities to capture the
imagination and interest of everyone.
The Arena is the place to be and will appeal to people of all
interests, featuring sheepdog teams and birds of prey displays
along with The Knights of the Longshank performing historical
re-enactments. Plus, for those a little more daring there is even a
mobile climbing wall. The Working Woodlands area provides
demonstrations of a variety of ancient and modern countryside
crafts, everything from willow weaving to chainsaw carving.
For those wishing to "go green" at this year’s Green Fayre there
is also a Healthy Living marquee with information and displays on
improving health and the local environment by providing ideas to
increase energy efficiency and recycling.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "The Green Fayre really is the highlight of the Countryside
Rangers’ calendar. With so much to see and do there is no wonder it
attracts so many visitors year on year. This definitely is an event
not to be missed - put it in your diaries now."
