Looking after the little ones during Food Safety
Week
The 9-13 June 2008 marks National Food Safety Week and this year
the District Council will be raising awareness about how good food
hygiene practices are important to help keep everyone, but
especially babies, safe.
Following the week’s theme of "GermWatch", Senior Environmental
Health Officers will be giving talks on food safety to mother and
baby groups in Health Centres across the district.
Children and babies are more vulnerable to food-borne illness as
their immune systems are not as developed as an adult’s. Following
the "4C’s" will help keep those hidden bacteria in the kitchen at
bay. The "4C’s" are:
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services and
Health, said:"I am thrilled the Council is supporting this national
campaign again and increasing awareness of the simple yet effective
range of steps that parents and guardians can take to keep their
babies healthy."
