Artists see the benefits of
entering West Lancashire Open Exhibition
Floods of requests for application
forms for this year’s prestigious West Lancashire Open Exhibition
2008 have been pouring in.
Artists from far and wide have been
making enquiries about entering their works because can see the
benefits of taking part in such a popular event.
In previous years the highly
acclaimed exhibition has resulted in many artists going on to
bigger and better things as a result of exhibiting - so others want
a slice of the action!
The good news is that there is
still time to apply to take part in this year’s event, which will
once again take place at Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk and runs from
19 July to 10 September 2008.
Now in its seventh year, the
high-profile exhibition is aimed at talented amateurs, students and
professional artists who would like the opportunity to show their
artwork to the public.
Application forms are still
available to give people the chance to enter their works for
possible inclusion in the exhibition.
The dates for submitting work are
Friday 4 July and Saturday 5 July from between 10.00am and
4.00pm.

Holder for Community Services, said: "If you have a flair for the
arts then there’s still time to apply to take part in the
prestigious West Lancashire Open Exhibition. Numerous people have
enquired about entering their creations into this year’s exhibition
and we are confident that we will exceed previous years in terms of
the number of works that are submitted. This is because artists are
recognising that simply by entering their works it could catapult
their careers into success. So make sure you apply now!"
Anybody is welcome to enter their
artwork and pieces ranging from painting, printmaking and
photography to sculpture and textiles. All media are
considered.
To enter the Open Exhibition
applicants must be over 16 years of age and can submit two original
pieces of artwork to be viewed by the selection panel.
The prizes are for 1st prize, £800,
2nd is £400 and third £200, with commendations also awarded. The
other category is the Peoples Prize, where residents who visit the
Gallery are invited to vote for their favourite works. The winner
is then given the opportunity of exhibiting at the Gallery and is
awarded a £150 exhibition fee.
