Artists see the benefits of entering West Lancashire Open Exhibition

Floods of requests for application forms for this year’s prestigious West Lancashire Open Exhibition 2008 have been pouring in.

Artists from far and wide have been making enquiries about entering their works because can see the benefits of taking part in such a popular event.

In previous years the highly acclaimed exhibition has resulted in many artists going on to bigger and better things as a result of exhibiting - so others want a slice of the action!

The good news is that there is still time to apply to take part in this year’s event, which will once again take place at Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk and runs from 19 July to 10 September 2008.

Now in its seventh year, the high-profile exhibition is aimed at talented amateurs, students and professional artists who would like the opportunity to show their artwork to the public.

Application forms are still available to give people the chance to enter their works for possible inclusion in the exhibition.

The dates for submitting work are Friday 4 July and Saturday 5 July from between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

Councillor Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: "If you have a flair for the arts then there’s still time to apply to take part in the prestigious West Lancashire Open Exhibition. Numerous people have enquired about entering their creations into this year’s exhibition and we are confident that we will exceed previous years in terms of the number of works that are submitted. This is because artists are recognising that simply by entering their works it could catapult their careers into success. So make sure you apply now!"

Anybody is welcome to enter their artwork and pieces ranging from painting, printmaking and photography to sculpture and textiles. All media are considered.

To enter the Open Exhibition applicants must be over 16 years of age and can submit two original pieces of artwork to be viewed by the selection panel.
