Make sure you enjoy park life with unveiling of events programme!

Ormskirk’s flagship Coronation Park will play host to a string of exciting events and entertainment as it unveils its very first events programme for 2008.

Last year West Lancashire District Council took on an Urban Park Ranger to look after the town centre park off Park Road - and with it was the promise that lots of innovative new things would be happening.

As a result, a brand new calendar has been put together to ensure that both old and young alike make full use of the park’s facilities.

For the very first time there will be a ‘Summer Sports Fitness Programme’ running throughout the various school holidays for 8 to 14 year olds. During the sessions there will be sports and fitness coaches on hand to deliver activities such as football, volleyball, Frisbee and more.

Up and coming musical and theatrical talent will also take to the bandstand in the warmer months to wow the crowds with their range of acts. Saturdays will be for a variety of bands whilst Sunday afternoons will have a more tranquil feel.

Every month there will also be endless events from parades, a moth night, bike week, day of dance, mini beast hunt, all the fun of the fair, community recycling and art events.

Dave Tilleray, Executive Manager for Community Services, said: "It’s the first time we have put together this type of programme for Coronation Park, which offers a mix of fun, friendly activities together with wildlife and environmental opportunities too. I’m confident that there is something to suit all ages and tastes and I’d urge people to pick up a copy of this new calendar."

The programme is available at all Council buildings and libraries or by contacting Urban Park Ranger Chris Horsfall on 01695 585147 or email chris.horsfall@westlancsdc.gov.uk.

All the events are free although some of the special events have to be booked by contacting the above number. For information about the park and the events programme visit our events pages.
