Fun for all the family at the festival of
kites
Don’t forget one of the biggest outdoor festivals of the year is
happening at the Beacon Country Park in Up Holland.
Now in its sixth year, the increasingly popular Kite and Outdoor
Sports Festival returns on the 7 and 8 June 2008, from 11am to 5pm
and entry is free of charge.
Spectators will be able to enjoy breathtaking aerial displays by
the Northern Kite Group and watch some unusual kites sweeping the
sky. There will even be the opportunity for enthusiasts to fly
their own kites too.
At 2pm on Saturday 7 June there is a free Kite Workshop to give
the younger visitors a chance to join in the fun by creating their
own colourful kites. This activity is part of the Junior Rangers
Club and is open to children from 5 to 13. Booking is essential as
places are limited.
For those that like their outdoor sports to be a little more
dangerous Team Extreme will be bringing their mini ramp and
performing incredible BMX, skateboard and inline skate stunts.
Visitors can even have a go themselves - if they dare!
Displays, demonstrations and traders from other outdoor pursuits
will also be there. And don’t forget to bring your teddy with you
for the teddy bear parachute drop.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "Last year’s event attracted record crowds and we hope to
build on this success again by offering an exciting programme for
all. There really is something for everyone, from flying your own
kite to watching some of the heart-stopping displays. Or you can
simply take time out by browsing through the trade stalls. So make
sure you don’t miss this show stopping event."
