First birthday for women's network
Businesswomen across West Lancashire will be helping to celebrate
the first birthday of a special networking group.
Members of 'Women Excelling in Business' have been invited to the
first anniversary festive dinner event on Tuesday 11th December to
mark this milestone occasion.
The initiative was first launched a year ago by West Lancashire
District Council to provide an opportunity for like-minded business
focussed women from a broad range of sectors to share knowledge,
ideas and experiences within a positive environment.
Since that time it has enjoyed much success. It boasts more than 50
members and is attracting sponsorship of events from a range of
businesses across the district.
So the first birthday event is a chance to recognise all that has
happened over the last year and is also a good opportunity for new
members to join.
Cllr Ian Grant, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Planning,
said: "Since we launched the network a year ago it has gone from
strength to strength as more women realise the benefits of being
part of this group. Not only is it a chance to network but also
it's a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills and make new
contacts. I would encourage women who want to excel in business to
sign up to become a member and benefit from the many advantages the
network has to offer."
The event is on the 11th December, starting 6.30pm at the Council's
flagship investment Centre, Whitemoss, Skelmersdale, and includes
dinner. Representatives from the Northwest Regional Development
Agency will also be attending to talk about the Women Ambassador
Programme for the region and to learn about women's enterprise in
West Lancashire.
Patron of WEB Gail Stanley is also attending and is looking forward
to hearing about the women's experiences so far.
She said: "I'm really looking forward to attending the first
anniversary event. It has been an excellent year for the group and
we've been able to put on a variety of interesting events, we've
listened to the stories of inspirational entrepreneurs and we've
welcomed lots of new faces to the network. I'm sure 2008 will be an
even bigger success story - so watch this space!"
There are a number of membership opportunities available, which
will help women engage with a vast range of organisations and help
them to prosper and grow within the competitive world of
work.
Anyone who would like to become a member of Women Excelling in
Business and would like to attend this event can contact Clare
Joynson, Investment Centre Manager, on 01695 712600.
