Day of Dance as part of London 2012 Open Weekend
celebrations
Get into the rhythm of celebrating three years to go until the
London 2012 Olympic Games with a special ‘Day of Dance’ at Ormskirk
Coronation Park.
West Lancashire will be joining in the celebrations across the
country during the London 2012 Open Weekend (24 to 26 July) to gear
up for what will be such a historic moment.
To mark the countdown to the most prestigious sporting event of
its kind, the Borough Council’s Sports Development Team has
organised a dancing bonanza event in the award-winning Coronation
Park on Sunday 26 July, from 2pm to 4.30pm.
The day is a celebration of the different types of dance from
across the world, from break dancing, Morris dancing and street
dancing to cheerleading.
On the day performers and dance groups will be demonstrating
show-stopping routines, while members of the public can watch or
even get involved in a designated dance space!
Park Pool will also be hosting outdoor aerobic sessions too so
that spectators can join in some healthy exercise at the same
time.
Councillor Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community
Services, said: "In 2012 the whole country will come together to
celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic Games and so this event is
about gearing up for this incredible moment and encouraging
everyone to get involved. I’m sure our Day of Dance will be a
popular, enjoyable and memorable day for everyone, so make sure you
come along and join the celebrations."
