Popular rural Green Fayre is back this
month
Celebrate countryside life this month and go along to the
biggest rural event of the year - the Green Fayre.
Hailed the biggest event in the Council’s countryside calendar,
the two-day spectacular is to showcase wildlife, nature,
traditional pastimes and the many different activities that happen
to keep our landscapes flourishing.
This year’s event takes place at the picturesque Beacon Country
Park on the weekend of 25 and 26 July, between 11am and 5pm each
day.
The country show, which attracts crowds of up to 6,000, offers
an extensive variety of traditional rural activities and acts for
young and old alike.
Visitors can come and see a variety of spectacular arena shows
including dog display teams and birds of prey demonstrations. It’s
also a chance to discover traditional and modern crafts by taking a
stroll through working woodlands area where there will be chainsaw
and woodcarving activities, willow weaving and stick making. There
will also be a Viking encampment too with re-enactments.
Don’t miss a trip to the craft marquee and healthy lifestyles
area where a range of traders and exhibitors will be providing
information and advice and selling locally produced products. Other
exciting attractions will be in the main showground, with plenty of
rides to keep the children entertained.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "The Green Fayre is a real celebration of the countryside and
countryside life and if there’s one event not to be missed this
year it’s this one. It’s so popular and attracts visitors from far
and wide because of its appealing programme to suit all ages. It
really does give such an interesting insight into traditional rural
activities so make sure you put the dates in your diary."
