West Lancashire Borough Council to undertake Housing
Survey
West Lancs residents are being invited to give
their views on housing issues in a special survey.
The survey is completely confidential and is
being carried out on the Council’s behalf by Fordham Research, an
experienced and independent consultant specialising in housing
issues.
Survey forms will be delivered by post to
thousands of homes in all parts of the borough over the next few
weeks so that local people can tell the council about their housing
needs.
The survey will determine both the
volume and type of housing required by local people to either rent
or buy, depending on their financial means. It will tell the
Council about people’s current housing situation such as whether
people’s current home meets their needs or is, for example, too big
or small or unsuitable in some other way. People will also be asked
whether they plan to move house in the future.
Cllr Val Hopley, Portfolio Holder for Housing,
said: “If you receive a survey form, please take the time to
complete it and send it back, whether you have a housing need or
not. What you tell us will provide valuable information that will
help the Council develop its policies to best meet the needs of
local people in coming years.“
People who own their homes, tenants of the
Council and local Housing Associations, and people who rent
privately, will all be involved. All households in rural parishes
and a randomly selected sample of households in larger urban wards
in Ormskirk and Skelmersdale will receive a questionnaire.
Survey forms will be issued from 12
June and must be returned by 24 July in the pre-paid envelope
provided. Any resident with a general query about the survey
