Calling all artists for
West Lancashire Open Exhibition 2009
Inspiring new talents and
established artists are being urged to apply to take part in the
popular West Lancashire Open Exhibition.
This year’s event will take place
at the friendly Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk from 25 July to 9
September 2009.
Now in its eighth year, this
engaging show acknowledges ambitious amateurs, accomplished
students, professional artists and those with a creative flair who
have been chosen to show their artwork to the public.
To enter the Open Exhibition
applicants must be over 16 years of age and can submit two original
pieces of artwork to be viewed by the selection panel. All media
entered will be considered, from paintings, printmaking,
three-dimensional work and photography to sculpture and
textiles.
For a chance to exhibit, make sure you pick up an application
form from the gallery to allow you to enter your works for possible
inclusion. The dates for submitting work are Friday 10 July and
Saturday 11 July, between 10am and 4pm.
Councillor Andrew Fowler, Portfolio
Holder for Community Services, said: "I would urge anyone pursuing
a career in art or those who have an interest in the subject to
pick up an application form for the chance to exhibit their work.
The Open is a hugely popular event with artists from all over the
UK entering work because artists appreciate the opportunity to
showcase their works during the biggest exhibition of the year.
It’s a great opportunity for working artists and aids those hoping
to develop a career, while offering encouragement to those who have
an interest in art."
For an application form, please contact the Chapel Gallery on
01695 571328. Alternatively, pop into the Gallery, St Helens Road,
which is open from 10am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday. For further

2nd is £400 and third £200, with commendations also awarded. The
other category is the Peoples Prize, where residents who visit the
Gallery are invited to vote for their favourite works. The winner
