Bag yourself a May workshop!
Don’t let the next school break in May fly by without bagging a
place on one of the environmentally inspired workshops at Chapel
Gallery!
Themes for the exciting events that have been organised for
children during the holidays are centred on flying insects and
nature, and styling your own shopper to help save the
environment!
The sessions at the popular arts centre are aimed at 8 to 16
year olds and will encourage them to use their imagination to make
their own bold creations using a mixture of techniques.
All the workshops at the gallery start from 10am to 3.30pm and
are individually priced. Details are as follows:
- Bugs, Bees and Butterflies on Wednesday
27 May. Artist Angie Thompson will work with youngsters to
investigate the countless detailed patterns and colourful designs
found in nature to create a big, bold and colourful abstract
painting inspired by mini-beasts
- Bag it Up on Friday 29 May. Artist Karen
McLeod will be showing children how to make their own stylish
shopper instead of using plastic carrier bags. Using fabric pens,
paints, crayons and various design techniques, participants will be
able to decorate their own unique bag that can be re-used time and
again, which helps the environment
Don’t forget that the gallery is also doing a 3 for 2 deal on
workshops where if people book three sessions before the end of May
they only have to pay for two - which is a great way to save the
pennies during the credit crunch. So you can plan ahead and book
summer workshops too and save money at the same time!
Dave Tilleray, Executive Manager for Community Services, said:
"These workshops are a great way for children to think about nature
and the environment in a fun way and turn their thoughts into
pretty designs. It’s also a chance for youngsters to make new
friends and pick up some new art skills too - so hurry to book a
place."
