Double boost for Burscough businesses

Double boost for Burscough businesses

Burscough Industrial Estate is booming following some exciting environmental improvements and additional security measures.

We recently made use of Council funding to install a 9 camera, Council monitored, CCTV system for the estate. The new CCTV system will monitor pedestrian and vehicular traffic at strategic locations on the estate, on a 24/7 basis, to enhance safety for local companies, their customers and staff.

The site has also recently benefited from a brand new gateway feature and landscape improvements at its main entrance with the junction of Tollgate Road and Pippin Street. The work was carried out to give the estate a distinct identity, using an eye-catching design linked to its history as a former military airfield.

The main element of the design is the use of wing-shaped estate markers, which have been designed as a reference to the Fairey Firefly fighter plane flown from the site in World War II.

Both improvements are the result of work undertaken by the Burscough Business Watch Committee, which is made up of local businesses, the District Council and the local Police.

Funding for the environmental improvements came from the West Lancashire Inspire economic regeneration scheme, funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency, via the West Lancashire Strategic Partnership’s Investing in Business Regeneration Programme.

Cllr Adrian Owens, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Estates, said: "This impressive environmental and visual improvements project will really put Burscough Industrial Estate on the map and give a high quality first impression to visitors. In addition, the investment made by the Council in CCTV should deter would-be criminals from entering the estate, as they will know the cameras are monitored day and night! The CCTV also complements other stringent security measures on the estate such as the Business Watch Radio Scheme."

If your business is located on Burscough Industrial Estate and you are interested in joining the Business Watch Radio Scheme, please contact John Corish on 01695 585123.
