Create your own festive decorations at Chapel
Gallery
Escape from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping in
Ormskirk and head to Chapel Gallery for some creative festive
fun.
To celebrate the season of goodwill, the team at the gallery has
organised a series of activities every Saturday in the run-up to
Christmas as part of its popular family friendly programme.
There will be everything from making magical stars and lanterns,
decorating glitter wreaths and building pretty Christmas trees,
which can then be used to decorate your home ready for the arrival
of Santa Claus!
The free activity room at the gallery is open from 10am until
4.30pm for young children and their parents or an adult member of
their family to enjoy these creative challenges.
If you’re looking for other festive fun, why not check out the
Council’s Christmas section on the website www.westlancs.gov.uk/christmas.
Councillor Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community
Services, said: "I’d urge children and their families to come along
for a break from the norm and escape from the Christmas rush to
enjoy getting creative. It’s a great opportunity to have a fun
festive experience at the Chapel Gallery and come away with
decorations for the home. Whilst at the gallery you can also check
out the latest exciting exhibitions, buy unusual gifts in the
contemporary craft shop and then relax in the café afterwards."
Activities are as follows:
-
Saturday 28 November - Make a magical Christmas star in 3D to
hang above your Christmas tree
-
Saturday 5 December - Create a colourful Christmas tree using
layers of different coloured paper
-
Saturday 12 December - Decorate a glitter wreath to dazzle your
friends with. They can be used to put on your Christmas tree or
hang on your bedroom door
-
Saturday 19 December -Make a magical non-flame candle
lantern
For each of the Christmas sessions, the team has put together
exciting examples of work to give the participants a flavour of
what they can make themselves for their own individual creations.
Where possible, a member of staff will also assist visitors with
the activities. For further enquiries about the Family Friendly
activities, contact Chapel Gallery on 01695 571328 or email
