Environmental improvements

We want to make West Lancashire the best place to live, work and visit it can be. As well as maintaining our housing stock we are committed to maintaining and improving our estates, public spaces and communal facilities.

If you feel like there is an area which could be improved we want you to let us know. This could be an open space which could be better used, an area with a parking problem which could be improved, an existing communal space or facility which needs upgrading or any other works which you feel could be a benefit to local residents and visitors to the area.

Any suggestions will be considered for suitability to be included in our ongoing Environmental improvements programme. The merits of each scheme will be evaluated according to their feasibility, cost, social and environmental benefits. All suggested works must be on land owned and managed by WLBC housing department.

Applications will be assessed by officers and councillors every 6 weeks. You will receive notification in writing whether the suggestion has been accepted or rejected along with reasons for rejection if appropriate. If you disagree with the decision you can appeal in writing within 28 days.

Some improvements such as alterations to roads and pathways or structural work, require additional approval such as planning permission or legal agreements with Lancashire County Council. These schemes may still be possible but will take much longer to achieve.

If you want to make a suggestion for some environmental improvement works please click Here (PDF 12KB) to download the application form  and, once completed, email it to psinvestmentteam@westlancs.gov.uk  or post to the address shown on the form along with any associated photos, documents or information.
