Balsam Bashing

Meeting Point: Fairy Glen, the lay-by on the A5209

Time: 10.00am

Cost: free

Himalayan Balsam is an invasive species introduced to Britain in the early 1800's by plant collectors and gardeners. Now widespread in the British countryside, it is a problem species that thrives along waterways and chokes other more native plants  through tall blanket ground cover. Each plant produces numerous viable seed and requires vigorous management to prevent it from taking over habitats completely. Join the Rangers to find out more about this pest species and help to control the spread in one of our most picturesque and diverse countryside sites.

Booking is required.

Please wear suitable footwear and clothing - gardening gloves are advised.

Under 14's require adult supervision throughout the duration of the event.
