Being a council tenant
The Estate Management team deals with all issues relating to the
management of a tenancy.
We try to make sure that all tenants are aware of their rights
and responsibilities and offer continued support to help make sure
your tenancy is a success.
The Estate Management team are also responsible for taking
action against tenants who breach the conditions of their
tenancy.
Tenancy agreements
All council tenants must sign a Tenancy Agreement. This is a
legal contract that sets out the rights and responsibilities of the
Council, as landlord, and the tenant. It also explains what happens
if the agreement is broken.
New tenants
All new tenants receive a home visit from an officer from our
Estate Management Team within the first 6 weeks of their tenancy
start date.
The purpose of the visit is to reinforce the information you are
given when signing to accept the tenancy of the property. The
officer will explain your rights and responsibilities and will go
through the ‘New Tenant’ pack. They will also provide advice,
answer any questions and deal with any concerns you may have.
