Homelessness advice and prevention

The Homelessness Advice and Prevention Team works to prevent people living in West Lancashire from becoming homeless. The team provides the following services:

  • Free confidential advice to anyone in the West Lancashire area who is homeless or thinks they may soon become homeless
  • Advice to private tenants and landlords on the law around private rented tenancies including dealing with harassment and illegal eviction
  • Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme
  • Nominations to housing association properties, including shared ownership
  • Mortgage Rescue Scheme
  • Sanctuary Scheme for victims of domestic violence who wish to remain in their home

This section offers a guide to what we can do to help - but as every case is different it's important that you contact us as soon as you think you may be at risk of becoming homeless so that your individual circumstances can be assessed.
