Older People's Portfolio Holder
Whatever the issue under discussion, we want to make sure that the needs, wishes and preferences of older people are fully taken into account.
To achieve this - and ensure that older people are at the heart of our council’s activity - we have a dedicated portfolio (area of responsibility), for older people. Cllr Terry Aldridge is the Portfolio Holder for Older People. He commented: “I am delighted to take on this role for the council. I am out and about listening to our older people and working hard to improve services for them.”

The Portfolio Holder for Older People leads on issues such as advising on how to support and encourage active, independent and healthy lives. They help to raise the profile of older people and their needs.
The Portfolio Holder acts as a champion, promoting positive images of older people as citizens, liaising with networks and organisations, and encouraging older people to play a full role in the development of council policies and services.
Visits to sheltered accommodation
Members of the sheltered housing team accompanied Councillor Aldridge on a tour of sheltered housing schemes in the Ormskirk and Skelmersdale area. He met staff and support managers and discussed a range of issued raised by residents. Councillor Aldridge would like to visit all sheltered schemes.
