Saturday Art Club
The Saturday Art Club has been a feature of the Chapel Gallery since it was established in 2001. Professional artists facilitate the Art Club, which is planned and developed in partnership with the Gallery.
We now have an additional Art Club based in the Sandy Lane Centre, Skelmersdale. For more information on the Sandy Lane Art Club, please see below.
Young Explorers, Age 8 – 12
A group for young people who want to explore their imaginations! Facilitated by professional artists who will help you develop your skills and creativity.
Creative Explorers, Age 13 – 18
This is for young people who have already identified a keen interest, offering a greater challenge and skill-based approach in visual arts.

Summer Fun Activities for 8 – 11 year olds
Sessions at: Chapel Gallery, Ormskirk (L39 4QR) and Sandy Lane Centre, Skelmersdale (WN8 8LA)
Dates for Chapel Gallery: 28 & 29 July, 9 & 10 August, 23 & 24 August
Dates for Sandy Lane Centre: 2 & 3 August, 16 & 17 August, 30 & 31 August
Time: 10.30am – 12.30pm
Cost: Free
Work with professional artists Sarah Jane Richards and Gaenor Hall to investigate simple animation and illustration techniques.

Creative Summer Activities for 11 – 16 year olds
Dates: Tuesday 9 to Friday 12 August. Four Sessions.
Time: 10.30am – 4pm
Cost: Free
Spend four exciting days developing animation ideas that will influence an artwork to be exhibited in the AniMotion exhibition at the Chapel Gallery in September.
Work with artist Sarah Jane Palmer and learn how to make 3D sculpture/inflatables, silhouette film animation, silhouette puppets and storyboarding for animation/film.

Educational workshops and tours
The gallery has an ongoing programme of educational tours and practical workshops for schools, which are closely linked to the exhibition programme. This includes:
- A tour of the gallery for which pupils are encouraged to discuss their own ideas about the art on display and become critically aware of the intentions of the artist.
- A fun hands-on practical session where participants have the chance to create a piece of artwork inspired by what they have seen and discussed.
- Sessions linked to the Art and Design curriculum Key Stage 1, 2 & 3.

Family friendly room - Saturdays only
With family friendly activities accompanying each exhibition at the gallery, we aim to create a visitor experience that's fun and engaging for all ages.
Every Saturday the gallery provides a room dedicated to creative activity for families. Activities run on a drop in basis between 10.00am and 4.00pm - so why not pop in?
Activities are free and no booking is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Adult learning programme
Fancy meeting new people and getting creative? Then get involved with our adult learning programme with courses ranging from glass etching and calligraphy to creative writing and more.
Professional artists have designed the courses - which will take place at Chapel Gallery - with various abilities and budgets in mind and will facilitate each session, providing support and encouragement.
Speciality Markets
Visit Ormskirk Town Centre and the Chapel Gallery to discover a variety of handmade, retro and vintage wares!
There are also special creative activities planned for families. A great family fun day out!
