Platts Lane Lake

Platts Lane Lake is one of West Lancashire's hidden secrets.

Fishing for all the family is one of the attractions of here, either by rod and line in the well-stocked main lake, or with a net in the nearby pond. Day tickets and equipment are available from the local angler supplies shop situated on Platts Lane Industrial Estate.

The site is a haven for wildlife. The reeds and flowers around the ponds hide frogs, water beetles, and dragonflies. The woodlands provide a home for lots of small mammals and garden/woodland birds. Owls and Kestrels can regularly be seen hunting over the long meadow grasses in search of prey.

The 'Monet Garden' with its benches, wildlife ponds and shrubberies designed by a local schoolgirl has developed into a lovely picnic area where you can sit and enjoy the wildlife and a relaxing day out with the family.

Platts Lane Lakes is connected to the local countryside via an extensive network of public footpaths and it makes a good base for a variety of local walking routes. For more details contact the Ranger Service.
