Wagging Tongues: 20 September - 1 November 2008cg_waggingtoungues

This delightful exhibition features the work of three artists, the printmaker Adrienne Craddock; sculptor Marjan Wouda; and Shellie Byatt, who creates large-scale collages. Each inspired by the universal theme of proverbs has created art works, which visualise a selection of “wise sayings” taken from cultures around the world in an imaginative and insightful way.

The result is an appealing exhibition which employs age old and distinctly familiar proverbs to explore notions about people, their attitudes, beliefs and prejudices in a succinct, poetic and often humorous way.

Liz Toole: 20 September – 1 November 2008

cg_thegrowingtreeLiz combines her love of pattern and colour with landscapes and birds in order to create magical worlds that reflect the extraordinary diversity of nature.

The starting point for her paintings is source material that includes botanical studies and ornithology books, but once the paintings begin, the images evolve through the process of painting itself, bird’s blend in with imaginary foliage to create harmonious scenes in an imaginary world.
