The parish of
Bispham lies in the eastern section of the district and is only a
few miles from both Wigan and Chorley. It is an agricultural parish
pleasantly sited on the slopes of Parbold Hill above Douglas
Valley.
Winding lanes radiate from picturesque Bispham Green, a
conservation area, which is the focal point of the parish and there
are numerous public footpaths and several historic listed
buildings.
The surrounding area was once popular for willow growing for the
basket weaving trade, however, since the 1950s the land has
reverted to agricultural use.
