The government website DirectGov's section for Disabled People (external link) has a comprehensive range of information in the areas listed below:

  • Employment (external link): advice about finding work, job schemes, special equipment in the workplace, residential training, work related benefits, the rights of disabled employees and the responsibilities of employers.
  • Health and support (external link): tells you about the care and support you can expect to receive including health assessments, equipment and aids, community services, hospitals and help with health costs.
  • Home and housing options (external link): is all about community living, housing schemes, nursing and care homes, and adapting your home.
  • Education and training (external link): find out about learning - from pre-school to adult training - for children and pupils with special educational needs, learning difficulties or other disabilities.
