We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our team and make a real difference now and into the future. This is a newly created role; it is unique, ambitious and reflects our passion to deliver a positive customer experience and make a positive impact locally. The person we appoint should be equally unique, ambitious and committed to ensuring West Lancs is the best it can be. With a salary package of up to £37,306 and a 36 hour week based in Skelmersdale, this is a great place to work.

We are looking for a strong leader; someone who can inspire, engage and communicate effectively at all levels; someone who understands the importance of effective and efficient building management and who shares our values and ambitions. Our Principal Facilities Surveyor needs to be driven by excellent performance and results and is always seeking ways to improve and build on successes.

We are looking for someone who has preferably got experience working in, or understands the public sector; who has a proven track record of delivering programmes and projects, and is confident in their ability to work both strategically and operationally.

At West Lancashire Borough Council we develop our staff and nurture their talent and see this role as a potential opportunity for someone who wants to progress. This is an opportunity to gain wider experience; a chance to work with some great colleagues and be part of a team that has set some ambitious goals for the future.

No two days will be the same. There will be lots of variety and challenge. This role is perfect for someone who loves to influence and shape change but is equally happy rolling their sleeves up to ensure we deliver.

Important advice about completing your application

Your completed application form plays an important part of your selection as it is the only basis for considering your initial suitability for the post.

The following advice should help you to complete the application form as effectively as possible:

  • Consider the contents of the job description, person specification and application form. Ask yourself why you are interested in the job. Don't copy the same application for a series of jobs.
  • Study the person specification carefully. This outlines the essential abilities/skills/experience and other requirements that are required for this job.  It also lists the desirable criteria that ideally we would like the candidate to possess to have the potential to develop.
  • Try to complete your application in a concise, well-organised and positive way.
  • Check for spelling or grammatical errors if this is important in the job that you are applying for, do not rely on spell check.
