Apply now for a postal or proxy vote for elections in 2016
Local Elections take place in some West Lancashire Council wards on Thursday 5 May 2016. On the same date voters all over the borough will also go to the polls for the Police and Crime Commissioner election. You can vote in the elections even if you can’t get to a polling station that day.
If you don’t think you will be able to go to a polling station then you can apply for a postal vote, or a proxy vote, where someone you nominate can go to the polling station to register your vote on your behalf.
Kim Webber, Returning Officer for West Lancashire, said: “You don’t need to be away or be housebound to apply for a postal or a proxy vote. Contact the Council as soon as you can to apply to make sure you can vote in the elections. Anyone who wants to vote in this year’s elections, either by post, proxy or going to the polling station, must be on the Electoral Register.”
