Come and enjoy our fabulous parks and countryside events in April
With spring well and truly here there are free fabulous fun events around the borough for people to enjoy organised by West Lancashire Borough Council's Parks and Countryside Service.
Crown Green Bowls is a great game for the whole family and a fantastic fun way to get some light exercise. If you have always fancied having a go or are looking for a way to get into the game then why not come along to the Introduction to Bowling event at Coronation Park, Ormskirk, on Saturday 2 April. There will be a trained coach available to let you know what to do and children will be especially welcome to have a go as well as adults – fun for the whole family. Meet at the parks bowling pavilion for 10am to take part.
On Monday 4 April people can enjoy an invigorating five-mile health walk around Up Holland. Meet at Abbey Lakes at 10am to join in. For more information about our health walk programme check out health walks.
On Saturday 16 April there will be the latest in a series of clean up events in Skelmersdale’s hidden treasure, Tawd Valley Park. The site has recently benefitted from huge amounts of volunteer action and it is great to see the local community pulling together to help the local wildlife. If you would like to be involved in this wonderful project meet at 10am at Skelmersdale library. Children under 16 need adult supervision at these three events.
Junior Rangers will learn more about local wildlife and discover more about the new seasons trends and changes at exciting Springwatch events which take place at the following places, all starting at 2pm:
Coronation Park, Ormskirk, Monday 18 April Beacon Country Park, Up Holland, Tuesday 19 April Stanley Coronation Park, Skelmersdale, Wednesday 20 April Richmond Park, Burscough, Thursday 21 April
Junior Rangers Club events are aimed at children aged between five and 12. The children will require adult supervision from someone aged 18 or over throughout. Places at each activity are limited. Booking opens seven days before each event and is essential to avoid disappointment.
