Come and enjoy half-term activities at the Chapel Gallery
Children can enjoy some fantastic fun activities at the Chapel Gallery during the half term holidays and see a fantastic exhibition at the same time.
The West Lancashire Borough Council run-gallery is hosting the wonderful AniMotion Exhibition, where visitors can get really hands on with art. They can meet legendary children’s TV character Morph and experiment with a range of animation techniques, inspired by exhibits from international animators including the world-famous Aardman studios, creators of other characters such as Wallace and Gromit.
The exhibition lasts until Saturday 12 November and during half term week there are some great free activities for children.
On Saturday 29 October young children and their families can use optical toys such as thaumotropes and zoetropes to make Halloween characters move at The Big Draw event with artist Gill Smith. The first workshop is between 10.30am and 12.30pm and the second is between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. No need to book, just come along to the gallery.
The following three events are all for children aged 8-11, and take place between 10.30am and 12.30pm with artist Sarah Jane Richards. They are all free, but places must be booked in advance by calling the gallery on 01695 585011 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Tuesday 1 November youngsters can create a super spooky animation at the Spooky Shadow Puppets workshop.
The Bring Your Drawings to Life activity on Wednesday 2 November shows children how to make a movie using stop-motion animation.
Make a Clay Model Movie on Friday 4 November will teach children how to use modelling clay to create a stop-motion movie.
Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “Half term activities at the Chapel Gallery are always really enjoyable so make sure you book your children’s places now.”
