There's plenty of fun in West Lancashire parks in February
From Springwatch events for children to countryside walks, West Lancashire Borough Council’s Parks and Countryside Ranger Service is organising some great activities in February 2017.
The first countryside walk is a five-mile loop around Abbey Lakes and Dean Wood on Monday 6 February. People taking part should meet at Abbey Lakes 9.50am for a 10am start.
The next walk is a seven-mile Tarleton Circular on Sunday 19 February. The meeting point is Tarleton Library at 9.50am for a 10am start.
Due to the advanced nature of these walks it is advised that you wear suitable sturdy footwear with ankle support and suitable clothing for the weather.
There is no need to book in advance for the walks but you can call the Rangers on 01695 622794 for more information.
Children aged between 5 and 12 can find out the exciting changes that occur in our local natural landscape at this time of year at Junior Rangers Springwatch events. The first is at Coronation Park on Monday 13 February, starting from the Bowling Pavilion at 1pm. Beacon Country Park hosts another on Tuesday 14 February, starting from the Ranger Station at 1pm.
Booking is required for the Junior Rangers events and can only be done by calling the Rangers on 01695 622794. Booking opens seven days before each event. Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult when attending a junior rangers’ event and they should wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather conditions if attending these outdoor events.
Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “Make sure you don’t miss these great events in our local parks and countryside.”
