Last chance to enter the West Lancashire Open Exhibition 2016
There is still time to request your entry form for the prestigious West Lancashire Open Exhibition at the Chapel Gallery.
You don’t have to be an artist to exhibit at the Exhibition. If you enjoy painting, drawing or taking photographs and friends and family comment on your talent, now is the time to enter.
This exhibition celebrates the creative talents of ambitious amateurs, accomplished students and professional artists from throughout the region. Whatever kind of art you make, photographs, paintings, textiles, or anything in between, this is an excellent opportunity to exhibit or even sell your pieces.
Each entrant can submit two original pieces of artwork that will be presented to the selected panel. The submission days for handing in your work are Friday 1 and Saturday 2 July. All media entered will be considered, from paintings, printmaking, three-dimensional work and photography to sculpture and textiles.
All the entries selected by the panel of judges will exhibited at the welcoming Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk from 16 July to 7 September 2016. Each year people who have never shown their artwork in public get their first experience of exhibiting in a professional gallery.
For a chance to exhibit, make sure you pick up an entry form by contacting Chapel Gallery on 01695 571328 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, pop into the gallery, in St Helens Road, Ormskirk. For further information you can also visit Chapel Gallery (external link).
First prize is £800, second will receive £400 and £200 for third. Visitors to the gallery will also be able to choose the winner of the People’s Prize, given to the most popular work on display. The winner receives the opportunity to exhibit at the gallery as well as a £150 exhibition fee.
If you are a student, and you don’t have to be an art or design student, and you enter, you’ll also be eligible for the £150 Student Prize.
Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “The exhibition is one of the highlights at Chapel Gallery and is growing in popularity every year. It’s also a showcase for budding artists who want to reach a wider audience. So if you feel that you’d like to have that chance, pick up an application form and have a go."
Chapel Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4.30pm. Admission is free.
