Make sure you are registered to vote in the General Election
The Parliamentary General Election takes place on Thursday 8 June 2017 and voters all over the country will go to the polls. There is also a by-election to elect a West Lancashire Borough Councillor for the vacant seat in the Aughton Park ward.
Anyone who wants to vote in the parliamentary and Aughton Park ward elections must be on the Electoral Register.
If you don’t think you will be able to go to a polling station on 8 June then you can apply for a postal vote, or a proxy vote, where someone you nominate can go to the polling station to register your vote on your behalf.
If you have received a poll card for the LCC elections on Thursday 4 May, then you are already registered to vote and do not need to register again in order to vote on 8 June.
Residents can check whether they’re registered to vote by calling the elections office on 01695 585014. You can fill in an online registration by visiting register to vote (external link) or register to vote. For more information please email email@example.com. If you do not have access to the internet please ask the elections office for a paper registration form. The closing date to register to vote in these elections is Monday 22 May 2017.
