Apply now for a postal or proxy vote for elections in 2015

Voters all over the country will go to the polls on Thursday 7 May 2015 in the Parliamentary General Election. There are also Local Elections in some wards. You can vote in the elections even if you can’t get to a polling station that day.

If you don’t think you will be able to go to a polling station on that day then you can apply for a postal vote, or a proxy vote, where someone you nominate can go to the polling station to register your vote on your behalf.

Gill Rowe, Returning Officer for West Lancashire, said: “You don’t need to be working away or be housebound to apply for a postal or a proxy vote. Contact the Council as soon as you can to apply to make sure you can vote in the elections.”

Anyone who wants to vote in this year’s elections, either by post, proxy or going to the polling station, must be on the Electoral Register.

Residents can check whether they’re registered to vote by calling the elections office on 01695 585014. You can fill in an online registration by visiting the Register to vote (external link) or Registering to vote. For more information please email elections.office@westlancs.gov.uk.
