Don't lose your vote in 2014
Voter registration forms were recently delivered to every household in West Lancashire as part of the annual canvass.
If all of the details on the form were correct you could register online, by phone or by text; if you wanted to make changes to the details on the form, all you had to do was amend the details and return the form by post in the envelope provided.
Thank you to all those who have responded.
As a follow up exercise, properties that haven’t responded will receive a personal visit from Council staff between now and January 2014. As a security measure, all Council staff will carry identification and residents are urged to check this prior to providing them with personal information.
Registering to vote is a simple way to ensure you will be able to have your say in the European and local elections in 2014.
If you haven’t received your form or had a personal visit by 31 January 2014, you can contact the Council’s Electoral Registration Office on 01695 585014 or visit the About my vote (external link) website to print off a form, fill it in and return it to us.
Gill Rowe, West Lancashire Borough Council Managing Director (People & Places), said: “Registering to vote is very simple. All you have to do is update the annual canvass form with the details of everyone in your household who is eligible to vote and return it to us as soon as possible. If your details haven’t changed, you can also reply by text; phone or e-mail. Some people may not realise that they have to register every year.”
“It is important that you complete and return the registration form so you’re able to take part in the upcoming elections. It is also a legal requirement to provide the information requested on the registration form.”
On your electoral registration form you can opt to have your details excluded from the edited register. This will mean your details cannot be bought by individuals and commercial organisations.
