Sign up for winter text alerts for services for the latest on our services in severe weather
Stay informed about West Lancashire Borough Council services if they are affected by winter weather with the authority’s text message alert service.
Residents and businesses can sign up to the scheme, which will run throughout winter and give subscribers up-to-the-minute information if there are changes to Council services due to adverse weather conditions.
It’s free to receive a message and it costs just one standard network message to sign up, which is quick and easy - simply text winter to 88882.
Subscribers will be the first to know if there are any changes to services, including refuse and recycling collections.
Councillor Ian Grant, Leader of West Lancashire Borough Council, said: “All the Council’s staff work hard to ensure they are fully prepared should bad weather arrive. The text message alert service means that subscribers will receive important updates about affected Borough Council Services straight to their mobile phones, as soon as they happen.
“We also keep people informed via the website and twitter. I would encourage people to go online to find out more about winter services.”
The text message alert service was launched by the Council last winter. For more information on the service, along with information about Council winter services and advice on preparing for bad weather, please visit the winter page for advice. You can also follow @WestlancsBC on twitter for Borough Council service updates, news and events.
Please note that Lancashire County Council provides information on services such as highways, gritting and school closures.
