Cllr David Sudworth, portfolio holder for environmental health, said: "We hope that all dog owners will be responsible over the holiday period, and will keep their pets safe and not let them stray. However, if anyone does sees a stray dog between Christmas and New Year they should report them to Leigh Dogs and Cats Home. However dogs that are dangerously out of control should be reported to the police."
Stray dogs will be collected and taken back to Leigh Dogs and Cats Home. Any pet owners who wish to collect their pets must contact the home first on 01942 671215 or visit Leigh Dogs and Cats home (external link) to check when it will be possible to visit, as opening hours will be reduced over the holiday period.
