Call for sites

Do you own any land that might be a good development site? Do you know of any local areas that might be suitable for housing or other uses in the future?

West Lancashire Borough Council is carrying out a ‘Call for Sites’ exercise as part of its ongoing strategic planning work and to keep its background information up-to-date. The authority would like to hear about land where possible land uses could include housing, traveller sites, business, retail and other commercial uses.

People will have from Thursday 11 June 2015 until Friday 24 July 2015 to suggest land which they believe would make an appropriate development site in the future

The Council believes it has already identified the majority of possible sites through its work on the current Local Plan, and through previous call for sites exercises. However, the ‘Call for Sites’ exercise is being run once more to ensure nowhere has been missed.

So, if anyone owns land or knows of a site they consider would be a suitable site for development, please contact the Council with the details.

Councillor John Hodson, Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: “If there is land that you think should be considered for development please let the Council know through this exercise by completing the official form. The process will also help us as we plan for the future and keep our Local Plan background information up to date.

“Of course, we must stress that putting a site forward in this exercise is not a guarantee that the Council will subsequently allocate it or support its development in the future.  All sites will need to be judged against relevant planning policies and other considerations.”

The official ‘Call for sites’ form will be available from Thursday 11 June on the call for sites page,  from the Council offices at 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, or can be requested by phoning 01695 585284 or sending an email to localplan@westlancs.gov.uk.

The Council needs to receive details of sites no later than Friday 24 July 2015, and sites must be submitted on the official form.
