Come and enjoy our egg-cellent events in West Lancashire parks this Easter
Children can have fantastic fun at egg-citing events in West Lancashire parks during the Easter holidays.
The Rangers have been busy planning a series of Junior Rangers Club activities for youngsters aged between five and 12 to enjoy.
Councillor David Sudworth, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “There are some egg-cellent events planned over the Easter holidays for children to enjoy so make sure you come along.”
The first Junior Ranger Club event is an Easter Eggstravaganza which takes place at Coronation Park in Ormskirk on Monday 7 April at 2pm. Children can meet the Ranger in Coronation Park and follow the Easter trail to get a prize. Another Easter Eggstravaganza event takes place at Beacon Country Park on Tuesday 15 April at 2pm.
Exciting tests such as an assault course and an egg and spoon race are all part of the Eggstreme Sports days at Stanley Coronation Park, Skelmersdale, and Richmond Park, Burscough. Both take place on Wednesday 9 April, with the event at Stanley Coronation Park starting at 10am and the Richmond Park event at 2pm.
These Junior Rangers events are free but must be booked a week in advance by calling 01695 622794. Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult.
Adults can join in the fun at the family-friendly foraging event on Wednesday 16 April at 1pm at Coronation Park. People who come along will be able to see the variety of plants that grow in the park’s hedgerows, and learn the difference between the edible and the poisonous ones. Visitors will also be able to find out how to make nettle soup by watching the live cookery demonstration. All children under 16 require adult supervision at this event. Places are limited and must be booked in advance by ringing park ranger Jessica Britch on 01695 570258.
Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather and ground conditions to all these events.
As well as these events the regular health walks take place every week. On Tuesdays the walks start from Richmond Park bowling pavilion at 10am, and on Wednesdays they start from Coronation Park bowling pavilion at 1pm. The health walks are open to all – no bookings required! For more information, please call 01695 555804.
